Almost every shower enclosure problem — the door that won't latch, the gap that leaks, the panel that looks crooked against the tile — comes from the same source. The glass was ordered from plan dimensions instead of the finished room.
Tiled walls are rarely plumb. Curbs are rarely level. That is normal construction, not bad work. What matters is whether the glass was cut to the real condition or to a drawing that assumed perfection.
We template after tile and waterproofing are complete, measuring the actual finished surfaces the glass has to meet. Out-of-plumb conditions are then accommodated in the fabrication and in hardware selection, before anything is cut.

Three ways to enclose a shower.
The right one depends on the opening, the budget and how much metal you are willing to see.
Frameless
Heavy tempered glass with no perimeter framing — only hinges, clamps and a header where structurally required. The cleanest look, the longest life, and the fewest sealant joints to eventually fail. Requires thicker glass and accurate site conditions.
Semi-Frameless
Thinner glass with metal channel on some edges carrying the load. Noticeably more economical than frameless while keeping much of the open look. A sensible middle ground on secondary bathrooms.
Fixed Panel & Walk-In
A single fixed panel with no door at all, or a panel plus return. Nothing to swing, nothing to seal against, and the easiest configuration to keep clean. Increasingly the choice in large primary bathrooms.

A frameless enclosure uses heavy tempered glass with no perimeter metal framing — only hinges, clamps and a header where structurally required. Semi-frameless uses thinner glass with metal channel on some edges to carry the load. Frameless looks cleaner and lasts longer because there is far less metal and sealant to fail, but it needs thicker glass and more accurate site conditions.
Frameless enclosures use heavier tempered glass because the glass carries its own load through the hinges rather than being supported by a frame. Semi-frameless and framed enclosures use thinner glass because the metal does the structural work. The correct thickness for your opening depends on panel size, door weight and hinge type — which is why we specify it after templating, not before.
In Florida, strongly recommended. Glass is microscopically porous, and hard water minerals bond into that surface and etch it permanently over time. A shop-applied coating fills the surface so minerals rinse away instead of bonding. It does not replace squeegeeing, but it is the difference between glass that stays clear and glass that clouds.
No — and it is extremely common. Very few tiled walls are perfectly plumb. This is exactly why we template on site after tile rather than ordering from plan dimensions. Out-of-plumb conditions are accommodated in the glass fabrication and hardware selection, not fought on installation day.
Typically one to two weeks from template to installation. Templating happens only after tile and waterproofing are complete, because the finished surfaces are what the glass is cut to. Installation itself is usually a single day.
